Weitblick-Wanderweg in Herresbach/ Eifel
Herresbach
You start at the village square in the center of Herresbach. Follow the main road towards Siebenbach and turn right onto Waldstraße just before the end of the village. Keep left there and walk along the Eschbach stream to the district road (K2). Leave this road after approx. 150 m. The path now leads to the right. Passing the forest, you reach a small bridge. After crossing the stream, you reach the K2 again via meadow paths above the district of Eschbach. After a few meters uphill, you reach the edge of the forest on the left. Follow the path past the wayside shrine and the benches for approx. 1.2 km. Crossing the main road (B412), the path climbs up to the Hohe Acht ("Turm" signposting). After around 2 km uphill, you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Eifel, Hunsrück and Westerwald from the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower. The most arduous part of the hike is now complete. From the observation tower, the hiking trail at the other end of the rest area goes downhill for 1.4 km (100 m after the rest area, take a sharp right, after 650 m and another 150 m turn left twice, then after 300 m turn right again to the B412 - follow the "Turm" signs -). On the other side of the main road, the route continues through beautiful forests to the Reuterberg. After about 5 km you reach the Herresbacher Heiligenhäuschen. After approx. 250 m, you reach the Herresbach "Eichenbäumchen", an oak tree several hundred years old, which fell victim to the Kyrill storm in 2007. Here you are at a prominent point in the municipality of Herresbach with a beautiful view. There is also a refuge in the immediate vicinity. From here, you can return to the starting point in just a few minutes via Töpferstraße.
Please download the gpx track and the map of the trail in advance, as the signposting can be patchy in some areas.
To navigate using the gpx track, we recommend using the Rhineland-Palatinate tour planner app.
After downloading the app and clicking on the gpx track on this page, the correct route will automatically open in the app. By tapping on the three dots at the top right of the app display and confirming by clicking on the "Save offline" tab, you can navigate the route even without network reception.
Only stay on the marked paths.
Especially in the fall, be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, etc. on the path.
