On this dream trail, you can experience a journey through volcanic history - in just one day! The first ascent up to the Ettringer Bellerberg is rewarded with a fantastic view of the volcanoes of the Eastern Eifel. After a short passage across fields and meadows, the volcano trail dives into the forest and now leads up the Kottenheimer Büden. Along the edge of the crater, there is a magnificent view of a quarry and the surrounding volcanoes. After the steep descent and crossing the K 20, you reach the Kottenheimer Winfeld with its unique basalt rocks and relics from the time of millstone mining. Pass the Junker Schilling monument and the Hartborn mineral spring on the way back to the starting point in Ettringen.

The Kottenheimer Winfeld is a former quarry area in the area of the municipality of Kottenheim and owes its origin to the eruption of the Bellerberg volcano about 200,000 years ago.
Today, the idyllic pit landscape with its bizarre rock formations and relics from bygone times, such as crane bases and pit cranes, is part of the volcano park as a landscape monument.
